If you come to Portland, you cannot miss the tour of Little Italy organized by Tino Tinto.

Historically, Little Italy was born as a fishing district. The pioneers were sailors of Riva Trigoso, a fraction of Sestri Levante (La Spezia), which since the seventeenth century sailed the Pacific ocean at the behest of Spain; their goals were the city of Lima and Chile.

In 1923-25  the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary was built in the neighborhood—an Italian Catholic Church, for the Italians living there.

In 1996 the Association of Little Italy was created and since then the neighborhood is experiencing a sort of renaissance. The neighbourhood is pleasant with new residential buildings, many shops and local businesses.

Last but not least, if you are looking for the real Italian pizza, just go to Little Italy and ask for Quasimodo il re della pizza, and tell him to serve you a "Pizza cu a pummarola ncoppa".  You will not be disappionted.
